Douglas sweeps past Reno

Freshman Anna Bertolone put down 12 kills Thursday night to help the Douglas High volleyball team post a 3-0 victory at home against Reno 3.

Douglas (5-1 league, 15-2 overall) won by set scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-17 in its final Northern 4A cross-over match.

The Tigers open the Sierra League portion of their schedule Tuesday with a key matchup against defending region tournament champion Bishop Manogue in Reno. Manogue is 6-0 in league, 12-2 overall.

On Thursday against the Reno Huskies (3-3, 8-4), Isabelle Peterson contributed five blocks and four service aces for the Tigers at Randy Green Court. Sierra Sullivan and Talyn Jackson had eight kills each. Jackson handed out 21 assists and Maddy Rozier 13.

Raychel Allen led the Tigers’ defense with 15 digs.


Reno outlasted Douglas 15-11, 6-15, 15-7 in a match that was delayed after a speaker caught fire in the main gym.

Jolee Godde had six kills and Isabella Tomassi four. Scarlett Harmon had two kills.


Douglas rallied to defeat Reno, 17-25, 25-21, 15-11.

Leah Schemenauer had seven points and Amanda Hone three aces for the Tigers. Jolene Votel contributed eight kills and Mayci Mariani four.
