Staff report

A strong team effort helped the Douglas High girls golf team capture second-place on Monday in its Sierra League match at ArrowCreek Country Club in Reno.

On a day when No. 1 player Koko Terada was unable to finish due to illness, all four scoring players shot in the 90s to give the Tigers their third straight second-place finish of the league season.

Bishop Manogue shot 339 to earn top team honors, while Douglas finished with a 384 score, just ahead of Wooster (392) and Carson (399).

Rachel Murphey shot a career-best 92 to lead Douglas, while Emily Gosselin shot 96, Mari Pimental 97 and Molly Jordan 99 to complete the team scoring. Murphey turned in the seventh best individual score of the day. One week before, Murphey shot 106 and Pimental 103 in a match at Wolf Run.

Carly Talia also shot a non-scoring 116 for the Tigers, while Terada withdrew from the competition.

Rachel Miles, playing from the No. 3 spot in Manogue’s lineup, shot a 79 to earn medalist honors.
