Douglas defeats North Valleys
Taryn Allmett and Talyn Jackson combined for 37 service points, including 18 aces, as the Douglas High volleyball team defeated North Valleys 3-0 Thursday night during a Northern 4A cross-over match in Minden.
Allmett delivered 21 points with 10 aces and Jackson scored 16 points with eight aces for Douglas (2-0 conference, 12-1 overall) en route to its win at Randy Green Court. The Tigers only had five errors from the service line (93.2 percentage).
The Tigers won by set scores of 25-3, 25-10, 25-15 against North Valleys (0-2, 1-5).
Jackson handed out 19 assists and Hailey Hughes contributed 10 kills and a .562 attack percentage (Douglas hit .344 as a team overall). The 6-foot sophomore also had four aces.
Raychel Allen led the defense with seven digs. Douglas had 35 digs as a team.
The Tigers travel to Sparks Tuesday for what figures to be a good test against Spanish Springs. The Tigers absorbed their only loss of the season last Saturday against McQueen by a 2-1 score at the High Sierra Classic.
Douglas defeated North Valleys 25-9, 25-13. Meika Cole, Kendal Moore and Leah Schemenauer collected five aces each, while Grace McKay led the attack at the net with four kills.
