Douglas alumni girls soccer game Monday
The Douglas Tigers’ annual girls soccer alumni game will be played Monday on the high school soccer field.
No admission is being charged for the game, which is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. A potluck dinner will be held afterward for “players, families and whoever wants to hang around,” according to coach Werner Christen.
A boys alumni game, originally scheduled to be played on Monday, has been postponed until a later date. Douglas coach Milko Vasquez said he expects to reschedule the game for some time after tryouts are held on Aug. 15, 17-18.
The defending Northern Division I Region champion Douglas girls are scheduled to kick off their regular season on Aug. 28 in South Lake Tahoe against powerhouse Montgomery High from Santa Rosa, Calif. The JV and varsity games are set for 4 and 6 p.m. at the South Tahoe Middle School.
The Douglas boys program is also hosting its inaugural junior varsity tournament on Aug. 28-29. Eight teams are entered in the tournament, including the Douglas, North Tahoe, Hug, Wooster, North Valleys and Truckee JV teams, as well as the Dayton and Quincy (Calif.) varsity teams. Action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Aug. 28 and at 9 a.m. on Aug. 29.
