Danner Hillman sped to fourth-place individually and the Douglas High alpine ski team captured third in the combined team competition Thursday during a Tahoe Basin Ski League slalom held at Alpine Meadows.

Both the Douglas boys and girls teams finished fourth and their combined score of 321 was good for third in the combined scoring. South Tahoe and Truckee tied for first-place in the combined scoring with 392 points each.

Hillman, a junior, was fourth in the boys race with a 1:27.3 time for two runs — 43.88 seconds on the first and 43.38 on the second — less than a second-and-a-half out of the lead.

Whittell’s Payton Norton took first-place with a 1:25.9 clocking.

Sean Dunkelman also placed 10th for the Tigers in 1:30.6. Zach Ingrey also finished 22nd in 1:43.3, Sloane Niccoli 27th in 1:49.0, Carson Shaw 29th in 1:49.8, Owen Elmquist 33rd in 1:58.6 and Andrew Voss 36th in 2:01.4.

Senior Tara Cottrill placed 11th with a time of 1:41.7 to lead Douglas in the varsity girls race. Katya Koepsel placed 14th in 1:50.5, Mary Wayland was 21st 1:59.9, Abby Jens 26th in 2:10.8, Annalisa Neal 27th in 2:11.0 and Becky Neal 34th in 2:27.3. Weyland is a member of the 2015-16 Far West Ski Association Academic Team.

Belle Johnson of Incline won the girls race in 1:28.6.

Maya Smith led a Douglas sweep of the top five places as she clocked a two-run time of 2:08.2 (1:03.8 and 1:04.4). Jaden Petersen was second in 2:13.1, followed by Peri Buck in 2:13.3, Claire Ingres in 2:20.9 and Victoire Mouret in 2:32.4.

In the JV boys race, four Tigers placed among the top 12 and 10 among the top 30.

Kaelor Angelo took seventh-place with a time of 1:56.0, four-tenths of a second ahead of Sam Brees in eighth-place. Blake Harper placed 11th in 2:01.0 and Range Chapman 12th in 2:01.9. Jonah Brees also finished 17th in 2:04.9, Aiden Crowley 20th in 2:08.5, Bryce Unger 23rd in 2:10.7, Evan McCormick 26th in 2:11.9, Maverick Duffy 28th in 2:14.6 and Tyler Keller 29th in 2:15.8.
