Pop Warner teams win three games
Douglas Pop Warner welcomed autumn to Carson Valley in their preparation for two home games at Stodick Park last Friday and another two away games against the Truckee Wolverines and the Sparks Wolf Pack.
The Junior Pee Wee Tigers won 7-6 at home against the Reno Miners. Coach Shane Thomas said: “With six injured, sick and many in new positions, the team managed to fight through adversity to a victory over a very accomplished Manogue Miners team.”
The Unlimited team returned home and played to a 30-30 tie against the Sparks Wolf Pack. Coach Mike Dillon said: “We passed the ball up and down the field. Kids played with passion.”
The Pee Wees earned a 32-0 victory in Sparks against the Sparks Wolf Pack. Coach Darren Daniels said: “Our defense and special teams really stepped up to the challenge making big plays and causing numerous turnovers. Our offense was able to move the ball successfully after making some changes to the front line.”
The Mitey Mites won on the road 28-6 in Truckee against the Truckee Wolverines. Coach Allen Peake said: “All of our players showed immense focus. We’re really coming together and starting to play as a strong team. We couldn’t be more proud of our team.”
The Tiny Mites had a bye and are preparing for their next game when they travel to Reno to play against the Reno Miners at Bishop Manogue High School.
