Pinochi named Player of the Year
Coleville High senior Jordyn Pinochi was recently announced as the Western 1A Softball Player of the Year.
Pinochi was one of five players on the first-team all-division list for the Wolves, who were the regular season champions with a 10-2 record (18-8 overall). Gabrielle Vega, Pawahnee Minder, Abby Wicker and Britney Harper were first-team selections.
Pinochi hit .554 (51-for-92) with 23 doubles, three home runs and 41 RBI. Vega, a sophomore, hit .429 and Minder .380. Minder also compiled a 7-1 record in the pitcher’s circle.
Camille Childs, Karla Gutierrez and Angel Armbruster were second-team selections.
Coleville’s website also announced the team’s award winners: Pinochi, Most Valuable Player; Minder, Outstanding Defensive Player; Vega, Outstanding Offensive Player; Wicker, Coach’s Award; Harper, Jackie Giorgi Sportsmanship Award; and Mary Donnellan, Most Improved Player.
In baseball, Coleville had two first-team all-league selections, Vernon Painter and Corbin Randall. Aiden Little and Lawrence Anderson were second-team selections for the Wolves, who were 3-9 in division play (3-19 overall).
The team award winners were Dane Pierce, Outstanding Defensive Player; Zane Loggins, Outstanding Offensive Player; Little, Most Improved Player; Painter, Coach’s Award; Anderson, Coach’s Award; and Brayan Garcia, Jackie Giorgi Sportsmanship Award.
Ignacio Estrada-Cota and Pinochi were also announced as Coleville High School’s male and female Athlete of the Year selections by the school website.
