Pee Wee Tigers beat Senators

Douglas Pop Warner

Members of the Douglas Tigers Tiny Mites huddle before their game last Friday at Stodick Park.

Douglas Pop Warner passed the halfway mark of its regular season last weekend with three home games as well as an away game at Truckee.

The Pee Wee Tigers returned home and defeated the Carson Senators, 39-7. Coach Darren Daniels said: "The team battled it out with the rival Carson Senators. There were numerous players who stepped up in short notice and took new roles on offense and did a great job. The defense played a great a game coming away with two interceptions and only allowing seven points against a very talented and well-coached Carson team. Unfortunately, it looks like the season is over for one of our players due to injury, Anthony Menzer, who fractured his elbow during the game."

The Mitey Mites played at home on Friday evening and lost 28-0 to the Sparks Ducks. Coach Allen Peake said: "The kids played with extreme heart and determination."

The Junior Pee Wees returned home on Saturday with a 15-6 victory against the Truckee Wolverines. Coach Shane Thomas said: "This year's Truckee Junior Pee Wee team exemplified great sportsmanship even after a hard fought loss."

The Unlimited game with the Fallon Greenwave was canceled as the Greenwave had to forfeit due to player illnesses. The Douglas Unlimited squad is scheduled to host Carson tonight at 6 p.m. at Stodick Park.

Douglas also hosts Fallon for an 8 p.m. Junior Pee Wee contest at Stodick Park. The Pee Wee Tigers play South Tahoe on Saturday in a 2 p.m. game at South Tahoe High School. The Douglas Mity Mites play tonight at 8 p.m. against the Sparks Wolf Pack at Golden Eagle Park in Sparks.
