Paterson wins men’s golf club tournament

Dennis Paterson shot a net 68 to emerge as the Flight A winner Sunday during Carson Valley Men's Golf Club tournament play.
Paterson won the flight by three shots over Augie Martinez, Bob Pemberton and Roger Hala as they tied for second-place at 71 in the individual stroke play event at Carson Valley Golf Course.
Don Henderson won Flight B with his 68, followed by Frank Ramirez at 70 and Bill Allen 71.
The day's best overall net score was a 63 carded by Jack Zippwald to win Flight C. John Guidicatti shot 70, while David Thorne and Brent Holderman tied for third-place at 71.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Ramirez on the first hole and Zippwald on No. 18.

DHS golf tournament Friday
The Douglas High School football program will host its sixth annual alumni golf tournament Friday at the Carson Valley Golf Course.
The tournament starts at 9 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at the Carson Valley Country Club.
The cost is $125 per player or $400 for a foursome. Hole sponsorships are $100.

Douglas boys soccer summer schedule announced
Douglas High boys soccer coach Chase Zumpft has announced dates for the program's voluntary summer workout schedule.
Between June 28 and Aug. 4, fitness sessions will be held Monday and Thursdays from 7-8:30 a.m. on the high school track, while sessions for goalkeepers will be held Wednesday and Fridays from 6-8 p.m. on the soccer field.
Participants need to bring running shoes as well as cleats. They also need to complete preseason workout forms, which are available at the school's Tiger Cage, and also have completed their physicals.
