Douglas High School graduate Krysta Palmer placed 37th in women’s 3-meter diving competition Thursday at the FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Palmer, a 2010 Douglas graduate and two-time Mountain West Diver of the Year for the University of Nevada, finished with a 216.70 point total for the competition. She opened with 45.90 points on an inward 2½ tuck and then went for the difficult front 2½ with two twists in round two, but missed for just 23.80 points. Palmer was the only diver in the contest to attempt the dive, which has a 3.4 degree of difficulty.

She finished out her day with 58.50 points on her back 2½ pike.

Earlier in the week Palmer won a bronze medal in the mixed 3-meter/10-meter team event with David Dinsmore (New Albany, Ohio/Miami, Fla.). This marked her first appearance at the FINA World Championships.
