Pack volleyball scrimmage tonight

Staff Reports

The Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball team will hold its annual Silver and Blue Scrimmage tonight in Reno.

Pack fans will have a chance to watch the split-squad scrimmage at 6:30 p.m. in the Virginia Street Gym.

The team will have a fresh look with six freshmen added to the team after the graduation of four key seniors in a 2015 season when the Wolf Pack went 7-11 in Mountain West play.

Nevada, under the direction of second-year coach Lee Nelson, now has a roster that includes former Dayton star, Madison Foley. Foley is a sophomore outside hitter.

While the game is open to the public and will run much like a normal game, the scrimmage offers the team’s most realistic practice before the official start of the season on Friday with matches against North Texas and Texas A&M at the North Texas Tournament in Denton, Texas.

Nevada will host its own tournament on Sept. 9-10. The field will include U.C. Davis, Southern Utah and Gonzaga as well as the host Wolf Pack.
