Three Carson Valley runners cracked the top 10 in the seventh grade boys race Thursday afternoon during the Tah-Neva League Cross Country Championships held in Stateline.

Carson Valley Middle School’s Kasen Boggs and Joseph Guariglia placed sixth and seventh among the seventh grade boys with respective times of 14:29 and 14:32 over a hilly 2.13-mile course at Kahle Community Park. Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School’s Camden Altringer ran 14:37 to place 10th.

Logan Reeves of Sage Ridge won the seventh grade boys race with a time of 14:06 that tied the course record previously shared by Pau-Wa-Lu’s Michael Johnson (2010) and Carson’s Kyle Glanzman (2011).

Carson Valley’s Andrew Albert ran 15:27 to finish 24th and Cole Williams of Pau-Wa-Lu ran 15:45 to finish 31st. J.C. Reid of Carson Valley ran 16:23 to finish 41st and David Christensen ran 16:40 to finish 48th. A total of 164 runners finished the race.

Carson Valley took fourth-place as a team with 110 points and Pau-Wa-Lu was seventh with 168 points.

In the seventh grade girls race, Leonna Hinnant of Pau-Wa-Lu ran 16:39 to place seventh out of 126 finishers. Pau-Wa-Lu’s Ashley Reger ran 17:21 to finish 16th, while Sweetpea Vieira (sixth grader) ran 17:44 to finish 19th.

Kailey Fitzpatrick of Faith Christian Academy (sixth grader) ran 17:57 to finish 22nd and Mekena Spohr ran 18:04 to lead Carson Valley in 27th. Sheila Moe of Faith Christian Academy ran 18:11 to finish 28th and Tess Nelson 18:12 to finish 29th.

Pau-Wa-Lu took fourth-place as a team by a 47-63 score ahead of Faith Christian. Carson Valley finished ninth with 221 points.

In the eighth grade boys race, Pau-Wa-Lu’s Ricky Diaz ran 18:31 over 2.63 miles to place 11th, Jose Saldana was clocked at 18:57 in 15th, Will Marriott 18:58 in 16th and Dominic Jackson 19:03 in 18th.

Soma Baligad also ran 19:58 to finish 24th, Steven Lyons 20:09 to finish 25th and Chad Maricich 20:38 in 29th. The Panthers finished fourth as a team with 78 points, only seven behind Carson Middle School in second-place.

Carson Valley’s Lucas Peterson finished 21st in 19:18.

In the eighth grade girls race, Laila Reyes ran 24:39 and Ashlyn Nelson ran 25:02 to post top-20 finishes. Carli Kleist of Pau-Wa-Lu ran 25:47 to finish 25th and Carson Valley’s Emily Nanse ran 26:00 to finish 26th.
