Menezes edges Rey to win at men’s club tournament

Marc Menezes edged Jesus Rey on a tie-breaker Sunday to secure first-place in Flight A at the Carson Valley Men’s Golf Club tournament.

Both players ended the individual stroke play tournament with net scores of 68 at the Carson Valley Golf Course. To break the tie, scores from the highest handicap hole were compared.

Daryle Lewis shot 70 to take third-place and Jack Sparman fourth at 73.

Jim Korzeniewski won Flight B with his 66. Mike Davis came in at 72 for second-place, while Augie Martinez and Chuck Householder both shot 73 to tie for third.

Frank Tisiot shot 70 to take first-place in Flight C. Brent Holderman and Matt Budjako tied for second-place at 72 and Bruce Sanford shot 73 to place fourth.

Gary Carsten shot 68 to win the Flight D. Jack Zippwald shot 71 to take second-place, John Watson shot 72 to take third-place and John Guidicatti 73 to place fourth.

Korzeniewski won closest-to-the-pin prizes for the 13th and 18th holes. Dan Essary won on No. 17, Marc Prause on No. 5 and Rey on No. 1.
