Meddles finishes 11th at Peachtree 10K

Wade Meddles, a former Minden resident and Sierra Lutheran High School running standout, took 11th-place overall July 4 at the 48th annual Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, Ga.

Meddles, 24, who now lives in Reno, clocked a time of 29 minutes, 33 seconds over the 10-kilometer distance (6.2 miles). His pace was 4:46 per mile on a hot and humid day.

And he narrowly missed a top-10 finish in a race that serves as the USA 10K championships.

Leonard Korir and Shadrack Kipchirchir, 2016 Olympians who run for the U.S. Army, finished 1-2 with respective times of 28:16 and 28:17. Five-time Olympian Bernard Legat, 42, was fifth (28:42).
