Local runners compete in CIM

Four Minden runners participated in the 20th California International Marathon last Sunday in Sacramento.

Rodney Lampson, 44, led the contingent as he ran a time of 4 hours, 24 minutes, 28 seconds over the 26.2-mile route from near Folsom Lake Dam to the steps of the California state Capitol. He finished 2,062nd overall and 214th in his age group.

David Q. Williams, 37, ran 4:44:01 to finish 2,395th overall and 267th in his age group. Lawrence Howell, 36, ran 5:12:43 and Steve Cook, 43, ran 5:15:06.

A total of 2,901 crossed the finish line. Elly Rono, a Kenyan who lives in Durham, N.C., was the overall winner in 2:11:56. Tatiana Titova, a Russian who lives in Tampa, Fla., was the women’s winner in 2:33:13.
