Lady Tigers win 3rd straight meet
The Douglas High girls track & field team has gotten on quite a roll heading into the final week of the regular season.
The Lady Tigers won a four-school league meet at Hug High School on Tuesday, marking their third straight team victory.
Douglas won the Glenn Poole Invitational in California two weeks ago and then claimed the Big George Invitational in Minden on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Douglas posted 89 points as a team, besting Reno (57.5), Reed (56) and Hug (21.5) in order.
The Tiger boys finished third behind Reno and Reed.
Lindsey Adams and Aspen Abbott went first and second in the 800, Morgan Weston won the shot put with a throw of 103-8 and Molly O’Farrell and Shawnee McFadden took first and second in the pole vault.
Aspen Abbott won the triple jump with a leap of 34-9 and Corryne Millett cleared 5-0 to win the high jump.
Olivia Abbott just missed a school record in the 200, posting a 26.2 to take second (the school record is 25.6 set in 1994).
Macie Harjes took second in the shot put, Madeline Lowe finished second in the 300 hurdles and Rebecca Corbett took second in the 1,600.
On the boys side, Bailey Vidaurri won the 200 (22.7), Marshall McKown won both the shot put (49-10) and the discus (160-4.5) and Tay Sims and Nick Abreu took first and second in the pole vault.
Douglas competes in the Carson Invitational this weekend before the regional trials begin the following Saturday.
