Kynett in action against Wolf Pack
Here is a breakdown on Carson Valley athletes who have graduated from high school and now compete in college:
MCKENNA KYNETT — Boise State University, 2016 Douglas graduate: Kynett played 43 minutes and took three shots for the Broncos Sunday in their 2-0 win against Nevada at Mackay Stadium in Reno. The freshman shot twice in the final three minutes before halftime then started the second half and shot once in the opening four minutes. Boise State (5-2-3 conference, 6-9-4 overall) clinched a spot in the Mountain West playoffs with its win.
SADIE GASTELUM — California State University-Chico, 2012 Douglas graduate: Gastelum placed third at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships Saturday in Ontario, Calif. The senior ran 21:17 for 6,000 meters and helped the Wildcats win their ninth straight conference women’s team title. Gastelum earned all-conference honors for the third time in her career for the Wildcats. The Chico State women were ranked No. 2 in the West Region and No. 9 in the nation among NCAA Division II schools.
LINDSEY ADAMS — University of Nevada, 2015 Douglas graduate: Adams and the Wolf Pack will run today at the Mountain West Championships at the Falcon Crest Golf Club, Kuna, Idaho. The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. (PDT).
ASPEN ABBOTT — Southern Oregon (Ashland, Ore.), 2013 Douglas graduate: Abbott ran a personal record time of 18:52 for 5,000 meters to place 16th Saturday at the William Jessup Warrior Invitation at Spring View Park in Rocklin, Calif. Six Southern Oregon runners were among the top 16 finishers to take second-place as a team with 43 points.
AMBER TAYLOR — William Jessup College (Rocklin, Calif.), 2014 Douglas graduate: Taylor ran 20:06 to finish 38th Saturday at the team’s own William Jessup Warrior Invitation at Spring View Park in Rocklin.
EMMA HERRON — William Jessup, 2016 Sierra Lutheran graduate: Herron ran 21:41 to finish 48th Saturday in Rocklin.
WESLEY HUNDLEY — Earlham College (Richmond, Ind.), 2014 Douglas graduate: Hundley rushed for 38 yards on 13 carries in Earlham’s 54-0 loss Saturday at Hanover College (Hanover, Ind.).
