JV Tigers dominate McQueen Invite
The Douglas High School junior varsity wrestling squad dominated the McQueen JV Invitational last weekend, bringing home 12 medals.
At 103 pounds, freshman and newcomer Eddie Kollar walked through the tournament to first place in his first ever Tiger performance.
Tim Souza made it look easy at 119 pounds for the Tigers, taking another gold medal for Douglas.
Continuing the tradition, Justin Freeman made it three first places with a championship win at 130 pounds.
Next in weight, 135-pounder Tyler Cook took third place.
At 145 pounds, it was all orange and black with two Tigers in the finals.
Adam Campbell grappled teammate Paul Herrera and earned the first-place spot.
Anthony Alvitre showed no hesitation pinning Galena in the second round for the championship title at 160 pounds.
DeCee Simpson faced off against Tiger teammate Chris Bugley for the third- and fourth-place positions respectively.
Billy Gilroy and Trevor McCarthy brought home fourth-place hardware at the 189s and 215s.
In the final Douglas appearance of the day, Michael Colyer wrestled his way to the finals, taking second place.
