Hundley puts up offensive stats; Gastelum second in San Diego
Here is a breakdown on Carson Valley athletes who have graduated from high school and now compete in college:
WESLEY HUNDLEY — Earlham College (Richmond, Ind.), 2014 Douglas graduate: Hundley again accounted for the brunt of Earlham’s offense in a 40-7 defeat on Saturday against defending Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Franklin College. The junior wide receiver caught three passes for 26 yards, capped by a 15-yard touchdown pass with 35 seconds left to play as the Quakers avoided a shutout. He also rushed for 73 yards on 27 carries and completed 17 of 28 passes for 98 yards as he shared time at quarterback. Earlham returns home for its homecoming game against Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday.
SADIE GASTELUM — California State University-Chico, 2012 Douglas graduate: Gastelum placed second at the 24th annual Triton Classic Saturday in La Jolla, Calif. The senior ran 21:56 for 6,000 meters in a race held on the UC San Diego campus. The Chico State women, who entered the weekend ranked No. 1 in the West Region and No. 4 in the nation among NCAA Division II schools, finished second as a team, six points behind Point Loma.
LINDSEY ADAMS — University of Nevada, 2015 Douglas graduate: Adams and the Wolf Pack will face a big challenge Saturday when the Pre-National Invitational is held in Terre Haute, Ind. More than 80 teams from across the nation will compete, including 10 top-30 teams, Fans can follow along with the race on Twitter with @WolfPackTrack.
SHAY WORLEY — Hartford University (West Hartford, Conn.), 2015 Douglas graduate: Worley had four digs for the Hawks in their 3-1 loss last Friday against New Hampshire.
