An all-around team effort helped the Carson Valley 10U Hotshots play their way to championship honors during an ASA tournament on Sunday in Incline Village.

The Hotshots won two of three games on Saturday in Tahoe City and then swept to the championship with three straight wins on Sunday during single elimination bracket play at Incline Middle School. The Hotshots defeated a Bay Area foe, the Foster City Flash, 6-2 in the championship game.

“What a great team performance,” Coach Joey McNinch said. “Every player contributed to this championship victory.”

Bre Williams pitched a complete game seven-hitter with 10 strikeouts over six innings in the finals against a Foster City squad that was undefeated in ASA play this summer, according to coach McNinch. Foster City also handed the Hotshots their only loss of the weekend on Saturday.

Williams was supported by a solid defensive effort that limited a solid Flash lineup to two runs.

At the plate, Neveah Kizer and Eva McNinch both hit doubles. Lily Baggett, Malia Deleon, Jessica Gmitter, Kizer, Williams and Rylee Wyman contributed singles. McNinch and Deleon drove in two runs each, while Kizer and Williams added RBI hits.

The 10U Hotshots travel to Napa Valley, Calif. this weekend for another round of tournament play before returning to play in the All World Sports World Series in Carson City on Aug. 7-9.

14U Hotshots

The Hotshots 14U team also swept past three straight opponents on Sunday to win their age bracket during the ASA tournament.

They capped off the title run with a 2-0 shutout of the Auburn, Calif. Storm at Regional Park in Truckee. Earlier in the day, the Hotshots outlasted the Benicia, Calif., Outlaws 10-5 and the SGSL (Sacramento) All-Stars 5-3.
