Hot Shots provide assist

Carson Valley’s 12U Nevada Hot Shots ‘04 fastpitch softball team recently took time away from the field to give back to the community when it collected more than 650 canned food items from residents in Chichester Estates, as well as family and friends, for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. The collection weighed a total of 631 pounds. The Food Closet serves more than 400 Douglas County residents each month by providing food to supplement their monthly food intake. “Individuals and businesses in our community continually give donations to support our team,” said Hotshots coach Joey McNinch said. “It’s important for us to make time to give back to the community that makes our fastpitch program possible.” Mrs. Douglas County, Nadine Chrzanowski, participated in the event alongside the Hot Shots.
