Hildman, Davies shine at state shoots

Gardnerville's James Hildman and Zac Davies placed first and third respectively in their collegiate division June 18 during the Nevada Youth Shooting Sports Association State Trap Championships in Fallon.

Hildman won by a 189-188 score over Fallon's Derek Whitten, while Davies was a close third with his 183. Both made the all-state trap team.

Cooper Davies, 11, and his team took second-place in the intermediate advanced team division, plus he took fifth-place individually and earned all-state trap honors. He posted a score 158, not far behind the winning total of 177 by Fallon's Tony Adams.

Hildman is a 2016 Douglas High graduate and Davies is a 2015 Douglas graduate.

The local trio also competed at the NYSSA State Skeet Championship Sunday in Yerington, where Cooper Davies won the intermediate entry division.

Zac Davies placed second overall, while Hildman placed fourth. They also won the college team division.
