Golf: Lady Tigers finish 5th at Regionals
The Douglas High girls’ golf team finished its season with a strong fifth-place finish at the Northern 4A Regional Championships on Tuesday.
Freshman Koko Terada closed out the tournament in sixth to qualify for state.
Tawnie Wentz took 23rd, Molly Jordan took 26th, Emily Gosselin was 31st, Kristen Greenhut was 40th and Megan Welch finished 44th.
“We struggled a bit,” Douglas coach Steve Gustafson said. “It was a nice day and I think there was a little pressure to shoot the same scores as the day before.
“Nonetheless, the kids still shot better than their season averages. Any coach would be happy with that. It was a great season, with a great bunch of girls. I’ll miss our seniors, but we have lots of young talent coming back next year.”
Spanish Springs won the team title with a two-day total of 638, followed by McQueen (654), Carson (661), Manogue (663) and Douglas (696). Galena, Reno and Reed followed behind,
Katrina Prendergast of Spanish Springs won the individual title, shooting a two-day total of 147.
