Goff, Thacker help Ducks top Blue Jays

Matt Goff and Chris Thacker combined to pitch four-hit ball for the Douglas Ducks 16U summer baseball team in its 6-4 win on Thursday against the Carson Blue Jays.
Douglas scored five runs in the opening three innings and went on to win the game at Carson High School.
Goff pitched four innings to earn credit for the win and Thacker worked the final three innings to pick up the save. Goff allowed three runs on three hits and Thacker allowed one run on one hit.
Gage Hoyle drove two runs home with a two-out double in the first inning as Douglas took a 2-0 lead. The Ducks added another run in the second inning to make it 3-0 when James Hubbard drew a leadoff walk and then scored on Calvin Doerr's groundout. Goff doubled then Hoyle and Luke Ackerman followed with RBI singles in the third as the Ducks pushed their lead to 5-1.
Hoyle went 2-for-2 with three RBI and Ackerman 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Ducks offensively.
