Girls’ Soccer: Tigers take on Miners in state semifinals today
November 10, 2011
The Douglas girls’ soccer program, already in the midst of one of the best season’s in school history, will be looking to bounce back today from an upset loss to rival Carson last week in the Northern 4A Regional Championship game.
Douglas (22-2-0) takes on Manogue (12-6-1) today at noon at Damonte Ranch in the state semifinals.
The Tigers were defeated 2-1 by the Senators last week, ending their string of two consecutive regional championships and matching them up in the semifinals against the only other team to beat them this year.
Manogue defeated Douglas 1-0 on Oct. 18. The Tigers, though, have beaten the Miners on three other occasions this season – by a combined score of 10-2 – including during last week’s regional semifinal match that Douglas won 5-1.
The winner of today’s game faces the winner of Carson-Pahrump Valley Saturday at 10 a.m. at Damonte Ranch for the state championship.
