Girls’ Soccer: No. 11 Lady Tigers cruise to win over Reno
The Douglas High girls’ soccer team used an early goal to take a lead and exploded with a big second half to put the game away in beating Reno 6-0 in Minden Saturday.
It was the sixth-consecutive shutout posted by the Tiger defense as keepers Bri Randall and Corryne Millette split the game in net, each posting two saves.
Kaitlyn Dry got Douglas on the board in the fourth minute with an unassisted goal.
The teams went scoreless over the next 53 minutes before Tia Lyons found the back of the net with her 62nd career goal on an assist from Cora Moody.
Moody scored two minutes later and Caitlyn Jones converted a penalty kick in the 51st minute to make it 4-0.
Bri Randall and Holly Downer added unassisted goals in the final 10 minutes to cap the scoring.
The win marked Douglas’ 26th in a row and it was the Tigers’ 32nd consecutive match without a loss. The team is ranked No. 11 in the NSCAA/Adidas Region 6 (West) poll with new rankings due out on Tuesday.
