Girls’ Soccer: Douglas runs away with win against North Valleys
Douglas took the opening kickoff downfield before Allison Chapman served up a nice pass that Morgan LeFever placed in the back of the net for a goal 10 seconds in as the Tigers beat North Valleys 5-2 Saturday afternoon at Douglas High.
Chapman brought the ball down the right side of the field unassisted before slashing to the net and scoring in the 14th minute for her first of two goals on the afternoon.
LeFever scored her second on a pass from Bianca Gillespie in the 21st minute and Chapman took a drop pass from Gillespie and scored in the 30th minute.
North Valleys put up two goals in less than a minute on it only two shots of the game nine minutes into the second half, but Christina Bradshaw scored the clincher in the 86th minute.
Douglas improved to 2-0-1 on the season with the win.
The Douglas junior varsity squad got balanced scoring from its offense throughout the game in a 10-0 victory.
Katie Nalder, Melissa Moline, Sam Johnson, Marissa Bertelone-Smith and Nicole D’Adero all combined to provide a rock solid defense in the shutout.
“The best way to be successful once you get up to the varsity level is to be able to use your teammates,” Junior varsity coach Ralph Johnson said. “I thought we did a good job of that today.”
