Football: Big Pine defeats Coleville football
After falling behind 47-14 in the first half, the Coleville football team turned around to outscore Big Pine in the second half, losing 55-28 over the weekend.
“Although I was dissappointed with our first-half performance, I was very happy with our second half effort,” Coleville coach Will Sandy said. “It takes a lot of courage to play hard when you are way behind and things aren’t going your way.”
Defensive tackle Eddie Brewer keyed the second-half turnaround for the Wolves. He recorded one tackle and two sacks but managed to neutralize Big Pine’s top offensive lineman.
Adam Reigle led the team with seven solo tackles and 17 assists, and Matt Shaw had seven solos and 13 assists.
Reigle had 39 yards rushing and a 9-yard touchdown run and had three catches for 88 yards. Andrew Robinson and Matt Shaw each caught touchdown passes from Travis Babbitt, who was 9-for-16 and 165 yards on the game. He also scored on a 1-yard run.
Coleville opens its home season this weekend, hosting the McDermitt Bulldogs at 1 p.m. Saturday.
