Duryee excels at golf academy

Douglas High graduate Casey Duryee is currently in his second semester at the San Diego Golf Academy in California and has been tearing up the links so far this season.

At a recent tournament at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, Duryee tied for first with a score of 143. He also qualified for first major tournament of the semester out of the Sarazen Cup/Hogan and Golden State tours field.



The San Diego Golf Academy is a two-year accredited college that focuses on preparing individuals for careers in the golf industry.

Duryee pulled in a 3.3 GPA in his first semester and is pursuing a degree in golf complex operations and management. Along with their studies, each student has to golf and post a minimum of 36 holes per week and graduate within a specific handicap criteria.



The school accepts only about 60 new students per semester and has a graduate and placement rate of 85 percent.
