Douglas volleyball sweeps at Elko

Staff Reports

The Douglas High School varsity volleyball team took a long trip to make short work of the Elko Indians Thursday night.

“It was a very long ride and it was hard for everyone on the first set,” Douglas coach Velvet Steel said.

Douglas battled back and forth with Elko before taking the first set and then dominated in the second.

Elko jumped out to a 10-point lead in the third set, but Douglas fought its way back into the game, eventually winning it 26-24.

Douglas’ Megan Myers highlighted the junior varsity game, coming out of nowhere to make a big save, sparking the Tigers’ 2-0 victory over Elko.

The Douglas freshmen also swept past the Indians in two games to complete an all-around successful trip for the program.

Douglas hosts Whittell Monday with the varsity squad playing at 5:15 p.m., junior varsity at 4 p.m. and freshmen at 2:45 p.m.
