Douglas Tigers Youth Soccer Camp this week
The Douglas Tigers Youth Soccer Camp for youth 8 years of age through high school starts on Wednesday and will continue through Friday.
Two sessions will be held each day at Douglas High School, 8-12 year olds on the soccer field from 9 a.m.-noon, then 13-through-high school from 6-9 p.m. in the football stadium.
The fee is $75 for the younger age group, which includes a T-shirt and ball. The cost for participants in the older age group is $45.

Carson Valley junior golf on Aug. 1-3
Carson Valley is offering a junior program for players 6 to 14 years of age on Aug. 1-3.
The program costs $135 and runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The program is being conducted by Beau Server, head golf pro, and includes instruction, clubs, course time and lunch.

Carson Valley Fastpitch meeting set for Aug. 7
Carson Valley Fastpitch will hold elections for board positions on Aug. 7 at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.
The Monday meeting starts at 6 p.m.
Anyone interested in filling a board position must submit a letter of intent no later than July 31. Applicants will be contacted to set an interview at the organization’s Aug. 7 meeting. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory.

Youth flag football sign-ups continue
Registration for the NFL Youth Flag Football league season, coordinated by the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department, will continue through July.
Coed divisions are offered for first-second grade, third-fourth grade, fifth-sixth grade and seventh-eighth grade. Teams are selected through a draft. The cost is $80 through Monday and $90 after that.
The season will kick off on Aug. 26 and extend through Oct. 21. Coaches still are needed for the coming season. Applications and background checks are required for all coaches.

Adult softball league registration under way
Monday is the deadline to register for the parks and recreation department adult slow-pitch softball season.
Three leagues are being offered, including Tuesday men’s league (competitive), Wednesday men’s league (recreational) and Thursday open coed league.
The cost is $525 and the season is scheduled to start on July 31.
Adult soccer league registration to begin
Registration is under way for the parks and recreation department adult open soccer league.
The deadline is Aug. 25. The cost is $550 through Aug. 15 and $600 after that date.
Team rosters are limited to 20 players (the minimum age is 18) and each team will play eight regular season games.
Games will be on Sundays at Carson Valley Middle School starting on Aug. 27.
Bighorns to host basketball clinic
The Reno Bighorns will host a basketball clinic at Caughlin Athletic Club, 4100 Caughlin Pkwy in Reno, on Aug. 3-4.
The clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day to give players ages 6 to 14 an opportunity to become directly involved with the Bighorns organization.
Registration is $85. Each participant will receive a Bighorns t-shirt, Bighorns swag, two tickets to a 2017-18 contest and a certificate of participation. Lunch will be provided each day of the clinic.
Bighorns head coach and 13-year NBA veteran Darrick Martin will lead the clinic, along with Bighorns assistant coaches.
The goal of the two-day clinic is to develop kids ages 6 to 14 as whole players, working with all skill levels to cultivate respect, sportsmanship, and work ethic in addition to mastering the fundamentals of the game.
The clinic is limited to 100 youth. Each clinic member should bring their own water bottle, snacks, and wear basketball attire.
