Douglas swim teams split vs. South Tahoe
The Douglas High swim teams settled for a split against South Tahoe, with the girls winning 158-120 and the boys losing 138-119.
Katie O’Neill led a sweep for the girls in the 200 I.M., winning in 2:23.78. Sara Sigala was second and Whitney Simpson was third. O’Neill also led a sweep in the 50 free as she won in 27.53 while Sigala was second and Denai Neilander was third.
Also for Douglas, Virginia Evans won the 100 free in 1:04.07 while Cassie Parr was second in 1:05.24. Haley Von Schottenstein, O’Neill, Simpson and Sigala won the 200 free relay in 1:52.77. Von Schottenstein also won the 100 back in 1:11.58 and took second in the 100 fly at 1:10.97.
Evans, Neilander, O’Neill and Simpson teamed up to take second in the 200 medley relay.
Paula Sigala also took second in the 500 free with a time of 6:15.72 and took fourth. Sigala also took fourth in the 100 fly.
Simpson took second in the 100 breaststroke, followed by Neilander in third and the 400 free relay team of Von Schottenstein, Parr, Anna Jackson and Sigala took second with a time of 4:35.84.
Amanda McRae took second in the 200 free with a time of 2:31.45 and Dana Pardee took fourth.
For the boys, Marco Hyman won the 200 I.M. in 2:20.18 and Paul Von took third while Blake Maxwell led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 50 free. Maxwell won the event in 25.28, James Spencer was second and Ryan Dykes was third.
In addition, Hyman won the 100 fly in 1:04.00. Hyman, Paul Von and Maxwell also helped Douglas to a win in the 200 free relay, teaming with Ben Weiss in 1:46.50.
Hyman, Von, Maxwell and Ben Syang took second in the 200 medley.
Von won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.31 as well.
Freshman Colby Cain took third in the 200 free, followed by Paulo Cartano in fourth, Dykes took second in the 100 free with Cain taking fourth and Andrew Pozun taking fifth.
Pozun, Spencer, Syang and Dykes took second in the 400 free.
