Despite seeing its three-game scoreless streak end, the Douglas High girls soccer team was unable to hang on Tuesday afternoon when McQueen rallied for a 2-1 double overtime win at home in an opening round Northern 4A Region Tournament match in Reno.

Douglas took an early lead, only to see McQueen (11-4-2) tie the score 10 about minutes before halftime and then win in overtime on goals from sophomore Kendra McAnich and freshman Chloe Pearce.

Jessica Withrow scored off an assist from Madison Smalley in the first 15 minutes for Douglas, which came in as the Sierra League’s No. 3 seed. The goal was the first for the Tigers since their 1-0 Senior Day win against Damonte Ranch on Oct. 15.

Douglas ends its season with a 10-8-1 record. The region girls championship game will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno.
