Special to The R-C

Douglas Pop Warner is finishing another successful season with two teams playing for the Sagebrush Empire League Championship Saturday.

The Junior Pee Wee Black Tigers and Junior Midget Tigers teams will play for the right to represent Northern Nevada in the Regional Championships in Santa Clara, Calif., in the upcoming weeks.

A win there would earn them a place in the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Orlando in December.

The Junior Midgets are coached by Brad Hoyt, David Curtis, John Fisher, Clay Peterson, Ben Schuler, Ruben Vidaurri, Paula Lippincott and Chris Kynett.

Team members include Nicholas Abreu, Kyle Adams, Tristan Beckwith, Andrew Bigam, Nathan Clinger, Javier Contreras, Joshua Curtis, Andrew Esparza, Kaleb Foster, Cody Frontino, Michael Gerth, David Gervais, Johnathan Hoyt, Joshua Jackson, Cale Kynett, Brycen Lawrence, Ryan Lippincott, Conner Lyons, Tyler Marguth, Cole Peck, Jordan Peters-Moran, Garet Rice, Dilyn Rooker, Zachary Rowden, Justin Schindler, Taylor Seamons, Bailey Vidaurri, Jacob Wartgow, Jaden Wass, Matthew Wasser and Christopher Wilson.

Other Tiger teams playing Saturday include the Junior Pee Wee White Tigers and Midget Tigers vying for third place in Sagebrush, and the Mitey Mite White Tigers playing in an invitational game.  The league champion Mitey Mite Black team was scheduled to play, but gave their invitation to a team suffering a tragic loss.

The games will be at Golden Eagle Park in Sparks.  Game times are Junior Pee Wees at 10 a.m., Mitey Mites at noon, Junior Midgets at 2 p.m. and Midgets at 4 p.m.
