Douglas looking for boys soccer JV coach
August 10, 2017
With the start of tryouts right around the corner, Douglas High School still is searching for a junior varsity boys soccer coach.
The position was vacated in July when Jacob Council indicated he wouldn't return this season. The opening was posted on the Douglas County School District website on July 18.
Tryouts for both the varsity and JV teams will be held Saturday and Monday. On Saturday, the Douglas players will meet from 9-11 a.m. on the high school track and then from 3:30-6 p.m. on the soccer field.
Varsity coach Chase Zumpft is looking forward to the Tigers being improved this season at both the varsity and JV levels.
"We're definitely going to be better," said Zumpft, who's entering his second season as the program's head coach. "We're going to have a bigger pool of players and the kids have been working since the spring to get ready for the season."
The Douglas varsity compiled a 2-14-1 overall record last year.

Zumpft added at least 20 freshmen are expected to compete for positions on the JV roster.
Coaching at the JV level is more a matter of player development than playing for wins, he added.
"You need to be a good teacher because the main objective is to refine the kids so they're ready to play for the varsity, so we're looking for someone who fits with what we're trying to do," Zumpft said.
