Douglas JV tops Galena
After letting Galena race out to a 21-16 lead Tuesday afternoon, the Douglas junior varsity boys’ basketball team recovered in a big way to pick up a 79-60 victory over the Grizzlies’ in Minden.
Shawn Hall scored 26 points to lead the Tigers, including a 7-of-7 performance from the free-throw line. He hit three 3-pointers as well.
Kyle Heidt also knocked down a 3-pointer and went 2-for-2 from the line for 11 points.
Freshman James McLaughlin scored eight points, Ross Bertelone scored six, Herman Filmore had five and Nate Imelli and Parker Robinson each had four for the Tigers.
Douglas outscored Galena 25-11 in the second quarter and 20-7 in the third to give itself some space in the game.
“We had a little bit of a slow start but our team played hard for the majority of the game,” Douglas coach Phil Emm said. “We were able to keep our turnovers down and our guys were able to get some good looks.”
