Douglas girls fall to Fallon
A plethora of turnovers early and a scoring drought late cost the Douglas girls a chance to beat Fallon on Tuesday at DHS.
The Greenwave made only three of eight free throw attempts in the final minute, but Fallon was able to hold on for a 41-37 victory that made it the favorite to claim the No. 3 seed in the zone tournament.
Douglas played host to Hug Friday night. If the Tigers beat the Hawks, they will clinch the fourth and final Division II playoff spot.
The Tigers committed 23 turnovers against the Greenwave, who owned a three-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
Douglas used three-pointers by Andrea Honer and Michelle Roza to tie the game with just less than six minutes to play. However, the Tigers didn’t score another point for more than four minutes, and Fallon got a 15-foot jumper from Jaqui Hyatt and a three-pointer from Tristin Adams to build a five-point lead.
Lauren Myers led Douglas with 13 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. Roza finished with 11 and Honer scored nine points to go along with eight rebounds and five steals.
The Tigers will play host to McQueen on Tuesday at 7 p.m. They will finish the regular season with a home game against Reno on Friday at 5:15 p.m.
