Douglas falls to Gorman

The Douglas High volleyball team came up short in its bid for a dream finish at the NIAA 4A State Tournament Friday night in Reno.
Bishop Gorman staged a big comeback to win a back-and-forth second set and went on to a 3-0 win over the Tigers in the state semfinals at Damonte Ranch High in Reno.
Gorman won by set scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-16.
Douglas was in position to tie the match at one win each, however, the Tigers were unable to take advantage of 23-21 and 24-22 leads as Gorman rallied to win the set.
Isabelle Peterson had 10 kills, Talyn Jackson 20 assists and Raychel Allen 19 digs to lead the Tigers statistically.
Douglas ended its season with a 25-11 record.

Whittell football loses to Pahranagat Valley, 46-20
Despite touchdown runs of 59 and 78 yards by quarterback Dismas Womack in the first half Friday night, the Whittell High football team saw its season end with a 46-20 loss at Pahranagat Valley in the 1A state football semifinals in Alamo.
Pahranagat Valley (11-0) led 16-6 after one quarter and 30-12 at halftime against Whittell (9-2). The eight-time defending state champion Panthers extended their national best win streak to 104 games.
