Douglas drops Lady Raiders
The Douglas Tiger softball team showed off a little bit of everything Tuesday afternoon, from power hitting and solid baserunning to smooth defense and strong pitching.
Kellei Kizer struck out eight and walked just one in five innings as Douglas beat Reed 14-3 at Lady Tiger Field in a non-league action.
Brittany Puzey homered and drove in three runs and Kayla Dunn went 2-for-2 with three RBIs to lead the Tigers offensively while Kizer helped out her own effort on the mound by going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
The Tigers got things going in the bottom of the second, posting six runs, and then again in the bottom of the third, with another six-spot.
Kaycee Wilcks and Kristy Olsen each scored three runs as Wilcks stole a base and Olsen went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Douglas has now won all nine of its games at home this season and improved to 21-6 overall.
The Lady Tigers will honor their six seniors Saturday before a doubleheader against Reno beginning at 10 a.m. at Douglas High.
Ceremonies recognizing Missy Kaplan, Kristy Olsen, Stevie Smith, Kaycee Wilcks, Samantha Willson and Kaitlyn Crawford begin at 9:45 a.m.
