Dolfins race at Fernley
Nine of the younger Douglas Dolfins swimmers competed in the recent Fernley Age Group Novice Meet hosted by Northern Nevada Aquatics and returned home with many personal best times.
Lily Bickmore, who raced in 10 events in the 13-and-over girls age group, took off 1.08 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, 1.48 in the 50 backstroke to place third, 2.27 in the 50 breaststroke for third-place, .78 in the 50 butterfly for second-place, 2.18 in the 100 individual medley and 6.31 in the 200 IM to place fifth in a new PC-A time of 2:34.45.
Daniel Willis, who entered 10 7-8 year old boys events, dropped 2.61 seconds in the 50 freestyle, 3.03 in the 50 freestyle for third-place, .38 in the 100 freestyle to place fourth, .43 in the 25 breaststroke for third place. He also placed third in the 50 breaststroke.
In the 9-10 age group, Barrett Lee raced in 10 events and took off 1.84 seconds in the 200 freestyle for second-place, 1.20 in the 100 breaststroke for third-place, 5.63 in the 100 IM to place third, and had a drop of 31.17 seconds in the 200 IM to place fourth. Anna Northcutt set a time to beat of 1:59.81 in the 100 freestyle. Niko Hight dropped 7.28 seconds in the 100 freestyle, placing fifth, 4.86 in the 100 backstroke to place fifth and .78 in the 50 butterfly to place sixth.
In the 11-12 girls age group, Aspen Paschke improved in all three of her events, taking off 1.58 seconds in the 50 freestyle, 3.97 in the 50 backstroke and 10.11 in the 100 breaststroke. Emma Ruffo dropped .99 seconds in the 100 freestyle, placed fourth in the 200 freestyle, dropped .11 seconds in the 100 backstroke for fifth-place and placed fifth in the 200 IM. And Emily Willis dropped .21 seconds in the 50 freestyle, 9.20 in the 200 freestyle, 1.68 in the 50 butterfly, 7.12 in the 100 IM and set a time to beat of 4:05.91 in the 200 IM to place eighth.
Megan Ruffo placed seventh in the 200 freestyle, eighth in the 100 breaststroke and sixth in the 100 butterfly in the 13-and-over girls division.
