Digest: All-Sports Boosters golf tournament

The Douglas High School All Sports Boosters will host their annual golf tournament at Genoa Lakes Oct. 3.

Check-in, lunch, and a putting contest will begin at noon with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

Tournament format is a four-person scramble and cost is $100 per individual.

Winners in the championship flight will receive four rounds at Edgewood Golf Course and winners in the Family Flight receive a week-long stay at a timeshare in Palm Springs provided by Valley Do It center and Douglas Overhead Doors.

There will also be a hole-in-one contest which has a number of prizes including a seven-day Carnival cruise for two provided by CruiseScape Travel, a new Buick provided by Carson Valley Chevrolet/Buick and a number of other door and raffle prizes.

Douglas In-line hockey tryouts

The Douglas In-line Hockey Club is having open tryouts tonight and Saturday night.

Boys and girls in grades seventh through 12th are eligible to try out.

In-line hockey sign-ups

The Sierra In-Line Hockey League is conducting sign-ups for its winter season.

Those interested can sign up at Play It Again Sports in the Carson Valley Plaza during normal business hours.

Youth leagues are available for ages 6 through 18 and an adult league for players ages 18 and up is also available.

Hurricanes to conduct tryouts

The Hurricanes are looking to have 14-and-under and 12-and-under A teams next year. Frank Maye, who has more than 35 years of coaching experience, will coach both teams. A workouts will be held from 3-6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Douglas High softball field.

The High Sierra Diamonds are looking for a few motivated players to complete their 2004-05 roster.

SoccerFest slated for Lampe Park

The Minden Elks’ Soccer Shoot will be held Sept. 25 at Lampe Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The soccer shoot is an accuracy and distance skills test competition open to AYSO soccer players in or outside the area. The event will be run in coordination with the Carson Valley AYSO Picture Day.

Medals will be awarded for first, second and third place for boys and girls. The first-place winner of the U10, U12 and U14 age groups will participate in a statewide shootout for a chance to move on to the Western State Regional Competition.

The next day, Carson Valley AYSO will conduct its annual SoccerFest on Sept. 26 at Lampe Park. It will be a “micro-6” tournament featuring 4-on-4 games on small fields.
