DHS All Sports Boosters Club to host free barbecue
August 23, 2002
The Douglas High School All Sports Boosters Club will hold a membership drive and a free barbecue dinner Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. in the DHS commons area.
The dinner will include barbecued, marinated tri tip, spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and desert.
Board members for the All Sports Boosters Club have set very high goals this year in order to raise much-needed funds for all of the sports programs at Douglas High.
“Power comes in numbers, so let’s make this our best, most supportive year ever,” said Rick Miller, president of the DHS All Sports Booster Club. “These kids are our future.”
In addition to helping with the purchase of uniforms, equipment and travel costs, the boosters club has also funded major projects, such as replacing the floor in the big gym, building fences at several fields and making contributions to the all-weather track project at the high school.
Currently, the group has its sights set on upgrading the weight room at DHS, raising more money for the all-weather track project, increasing the availability of travel-cost assistance to all DHS teams and financially assisting all Douglas High sports programs.
