Denny leads at college nationals
Wyatt Denny is out front in his bid to win the bareback riding after three rounds of the 68th annual College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.
Denny, a Carson Valley product who rides for Feather River College, posted a score of 82 to win the third go Wednesday at the Casper Events Center. His score was the highest of the competition overall and came after he came in second during the first two rounds on Sunday and Tuesday.
He opened with a 77.5-point score for second-place in the first go on Sunday. Feather River teammate Clayton Biglow was the leader with a score of 80.0.
Denny came back on Tuesday and put up a score of 76.5 for second-place in the second go.
Denny tied for sixth-place when he represented Panola College (Texas) at last year’s college finals in Casper.
In December, he was presented with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s 2015 bareback riding Resistol Rookie of the Year award during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
