Cross Country: Falcons run ‘retro’ race
If there is one true oddity to the Northern Nevada cross country world, it has to be the annual South Lake Tahoe Retro Relays.
The race is run over a two-mile course with hills, grass, asphalt, dirt and more hills. Participants can dress up in costumes, either as individuals or as a team, but whatever costumes are worn must be worn through the entirety of the race.
Sierra Lutheran competed in the race last week, with two co-ed squads running.
Freshman Wyatt Hicks ran the individual race and took second place with a time of 13:29, just behind the race’s winner.
In the relay race, every member of the team ran a two-mile leg.
The team of Jonny Harms, Sierra Stulac, Erin Henry and John McRae came in third.
Luke Barulich, Abby Williams, Alesha Martinez and Donovan Harrison ran as a team as well, finishing in the middle of the pack.
