Tigers turn back Reed
Tre Jackson and Ian Ozolins combined to score 27 points Friday night and the Douglas High boys basketball team produced two defensive stops down the stretch to preserve a 62-58 Northern 4A cross-over win against Reed in Sparks.
Jackson finished with 15 points and Ozolins 12 to help Douglas (3-6 overall, 2-2 Sierra League) end a three-game losing streak.
Douglas led 51-43 at the end of three quarters.
On Thursday, Jackson scored 17 points and Ryan Barnes 16 for the Tigers in a 77-64 loss at Spanish Springs. Barnes shot 4-for-9 from 3-point range.
A 17-1 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters enabled Spanish Springs to break open a close contest.
The Cougars led 33-29 at halftime and 50-45 at the end of three quarters. Marcus Loadholt, the High Desert League’s returning Player of the Year, led all scorers with 22 points for the Cougars. Josh Prizina, a 6-5 senior who has signed to play baseball at the University of Nevada, scored 12 points.
Jordan Warren contributed seven points, six rebounds and three assists for the Tigers.
