Youngsters 5 to 17 years of age, ranging from beginners to those who are looking to improve their skills, are now taking advantage of the fall junior program at the Carson Valley Golf Course.

Rob Harbottle, head golf pro at the course, has been part of the program for the past six years.

“The kids have a good time,” Harbottle said. “We teach them the fundamentals, and then (after the classes) we give them popsickles or root beer floats … or hot chocolate, depending on the weather. This time of year, there have been times when we’ve had root beer floats and hot chocolate in the same week.”

The program is a six-week course that offers instruction to juniors two days a week.

Students are still welcome to join the program, according to Harbottle. Call the golf course at 265-3181 for information.
