Begovich clouts five home runs in sweep
Cody Begovich, a 2012 Douglas High graduate, was honored on Tuesday as the Mid-America Athletics Association /AstroTurf Hitter of the Week for the Northeastern State University (Tahlequah, Okla.) baseball team.
The RiverHawks’ senior outfielder collected five hits this past week and made each of them count in a big way — 5-for-11 with five home runs, 12 RBI and nine runs scored. His performance helped Northeastern State (12-7 overall, 6-3 conference) sweep a three-game road series from Lincoln on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. He was walked seven times and for good measure, Begovich played errorless ball in the field and was 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts.
Begovich is hitting .500 (7-for-14) with seven home runs, 16 runs batted in and 11 runs scored for his last four games.
