Baseball: Douglas outslugs Wooster
The Douglas baseball team outslugged Wooster 15-7 Saturday afternoon, bolstered by a standout effort from Cody Begovich at the plate.
Begovich went 4-for-5 with six RBIs, two doubles, a triple and three runs scored to lead the Tigers.
Leo Trebotich went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Dillon Lopez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Dusty Fisher went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Nolan Weintz and Chase White each drove in a run in the win.
Douglas piled up a five-run lead in the first and never looked back, although Wooster had three runs in the secon and four in the fourth to keep the game from ending via the 10-run mercy rule.
Jackson Ketron started the game on the mound for the Tigers, striking out two and walking none, but sophomore Kyle Johnson picked up the win in relief for the second Saturday in a row, striking out two of his own over 3.1 innings of work.
Douglas improved to 9-4 overall and 3-4 in Northern 4A action.
