Adams wins Squaw race
Lindsey Adams emerged as the women’s winner on July 30 at the 36th annual Squaw Mountain Run held at Squaw Valley Ski Resort.
Adams, a 2015 Douglas High graduate, ran 36 minutes, 21 seconds in the grueling 3.6-mile uphill race from Squaw Valley’s base to High Camp at an elevation of 8,200 feet. She finished 15th overall in a field of 315 finishers. The time was a 3-minute personal record for the course.
Adams will run this fall as a redshirt freshman at the University of Nevada. At Douglas, she won the state individual girls cross country title as a senior in 2014 and as a freshman in 2011.
Chico State University runner Arturo Arevalo was the overall race winner as he clocked in at 29:05.6. Arevalo ran as a redshirt freshman for Chico State’s cross country team last year at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships and at the NCAA Division II West Region Championships.
The Nevada Wolf Pack open their season Sept. 2 at the Nature’s Bakery Nevada Twilight Classic at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks. The meet will include runners in eighth grade-and-under all the way to high school, college/open races.
