Gardnerville Town Board members are asking residents about the future of the town at a special meeting 5:15 p.m. in at the town offices, 1407 Main St. A proposal to extend the town's service boundary to the Allerman Canal is up for discussion.

County Manager Larry Werner is speaking to Minden Rotary today at noon at the Carson Valley Inn. Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m.

U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., is hosting a veterans town hall 10 a.m. to noon at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St. in Minden.

Mosquito sprayers will be ground fogging in the Johnson Lane area tonight. They'll take to the air on Wednesday morning, flying 2,000 acres west of Highway 395 behind Westwood. On Wednesday night they'll be groundfogging in Westwood, and then back in Minden on Thursday night doing more groundfogging. They fogged Winhaven on Monday night.

A Gardnerville Ranchos man who admitted he drove under the influence of alcohol with a prior felony conviction for the same offense is facing prison in district court this morning. William K. Tinlin, 68, was arrested in December after he was spotted swerving on Highway 395 north of Minden, almost striking several vehicles. He had a blood alcohol level of .176.

If you smell smoke, it's probably from a couple of good-sized fires down in Yosemite. But with the thunderstorms rolling in tonight, we may generate some smoke on our own.
